I’m a sucker for pine trees. I usually spend most of my Arizona days up North because there’s something about being surrounded by the little green Arizona has that I just love. Maybe it’s because Christmas is my favorite holiday and I’m all about that Christmas tree life... Yeah, that’s it. But hey, can you blame me? They make for great photos.
Let me just start this post by saying - I looooove granola. Crunchy, sweet, carby goodness, AND super easy to make (thank goodness, because store bought gets expensive really quick). Granola can be a great option for hiking and backcountry trips because it’ll provide quick energy, packs up light enough, and can be a cheap(er) alternative to other hiking foods. Not to mention, what Mountain Chicks doesn’t love some homemade goodness while away from home?
In March of 2017 I was lucky enough to be invited by a Mountain Chick who won a permit to backpack the core zone of the Enchantments from June 21-25th. The Enchantment wilderness outside of Leavenworth, Washington is highly protected and if you are lucky enough to score a permit for an extended stay; here is some trail beta and logistics from my experience.
So I have a list. It’s written on a notepad that I snagged from a hotel room years ago. The list contains about 15 different locations I want to travel to at some point in my life. I’m constantly adding and subtracting from this list, but always try to keep it around 15-20 destinations so I can turn those dreams into goals. Honestly, I want to see all the places, and do all the things, all around the world, but until I’m ready to leave life behind, I’ll stick to what’s currently on the list. Iceland actually wasn’t on it.
Well, here it is! The end of my seven week road trip through the Western United States. I’m a little bit funny in that I love adventure, but I’m also very much a homebody. I’ve been half way across the world and been content to come home after two weeks.
