Flatiron has grown in popularity as one of Arizona's best hikes over the last few years. However, it's not the easiest of hikes. Mountain Chicks has all the details so women who hike and men alike can enjoy this difficult trail. Become a member when you're done reading!
The Siphon Draw Trail to Flatiron has been on my az list a long time. Every time I wanted to go, someone had already done it or wasn't up for it. Finally, a group of us had the weekend off and were down to get to the top!
The trail starts out pretty flat. It's beautiful scenery! The superstitions quite like the other Arizona mountains. The once volcanic area, has amazing rock formations and pretty greenery (especially after all the rain lately). The trail inclines slowly to a certain point and seems to go straight to from there.
The bouldering begins just after this point. A casual hike becomes figuring out where to put your hands and feet. As someone who hasn't gone to the rock gym, this was quite a game. Luckily I had a great group of friends to motivate me to the top.
The view was amazing! Pictures won't do the small details justice. After much needed snacks (and a peanut butter sandwich), we took out photos and headed down. A day spent with good company, and I could finally cross it off my az list!
