Okay, so I absolutely love road trips. 5 hours, 10 hours, or even 20 and I'm up for the adventure. So if you ever need a road trip buddy, I'm your girl. Yosemite had been on my list for a while, and I was lucky enough to snag spots to go from Dani to go. My dad is a National Park enthusiast, so he was the first person I asked! Naturally, he was thrilled to go. A few weeks later my best friend (Kathryn), my dad, and I started our 10+ hour journey to the gorgeous park.
Once we got there, K and I asked every park ranger we saw what their favorite trail was. More times than not, the answer was Vernal Falls. Being obsessed with waterfalls, we decided to do it the second day we were there. I've said it before, but National Parks during the summer are PACKED. People everywhere. Better to start hiking early morning or towards the evening.
We did neither of these things hahaha. The trailhead was quite busy when we started up. And boy oh boy does it incline. The scenery is amazing. Green, trees, and beautiful water flowing. When the concrete stairs started, we lost a decent amount of the crowd. After what seemed like forever, we finally made it to the viewpoint of the falls. Breathtaking for sure. After some crafty photos and the loss of my brand new sunglasses (RIP), we continued upward to get a view from the top of the falls.
There are so many signs of warnings about swimming in the water. It's quite a far drop, so getting caught up in the rushing water is not a viable option. So if you decide to check out Vernal Falls, please please please be careful when swimming in the water! There's a small pool further back, but that won't necessarily save you from the powerful stream.
Anyways (enough mom worries), The falls were BA. The stairs were a little tough. The people were a bit of an inconvenience. Worth it all though.
