Meet the Ambassadors
Hi! I'm Sarah and I'm a New England gal at heart but been living in the beautiful state of Colorado since 2011 where my need to climb peaks is extensively satisfied by the majestic Rocky Mountains. I began hiking when I was a little kid with my mother, who always insisted on getting us kids out into the woods (little did she know that was the beginning of my love affair with the natural world). Mountains have always been my lifeline, a place of healing, a place to rejoice in happiness or to recover from sorrow, a place I have always called home no matter where I am in the world. I have hiked the glaciers and waterfalls of Iceland, the rocky cliffs of Nova Scotia, the coastal mountains of British Columbia, the beautiful public lands of the United States, the rolling hills of the Adirondacks, the majestic peaks of the Alps, and the towering fourteeners of Colorado. I can't wait to add to this list with the beautiful souls of the Mountain Chicks community!
My name is Sarah, and I grew up in a little town outside of Chicago, called Oak Park. The first time I saw the mountains , I knew my life was meant for them to be in it, so here I am! My golden retriever Sophie accompanies me on most my hikes, and loves the outdoors just like her mama! I am so stoked to be able to meet other badass women, (and hopefully lots of doggos) who share a common love!
Hi, I'm Stephanie and I live in a sweet little town called Mancos, CO. I am fortunate to have lots of beautiful wilderness in my backyard. I’ve always enjoyed the outdoors but it wasn’t until my father passed away over 11 years ago that I truly discovered the power of nature. After he died, I left my corporate job, moved to Colorado and started to work in wilderness therapy. I am now a full time social worker and my time in the outdoors equals my sanity. I love hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and this fall I started paddleboarding. You can also catch me laughing a lot and busting out an occasional cartwheel! My dog Luna is usually with me on my adventures, she’s too cute to leave at home. I am stoked to be a part of this community and look forward to many outdoor adventures ahead!
I am first and foremost a wanderluster at heart. Being the daughter of a mountaineer and raised in Colorado, I've been camping, hiking, skiing and rock climbing practically since birth. I'm also an avid yogi, photographer and blogger. I believe my purpose in life is to inspire others to get outside and experience life and to help protect the wild places I love to recreate in. Last summer my fiance, dog and I lived out of our Subaru and roadtripped across the Western US and Canada and now I live for the weekends, evenings and dawn patrol weekdays when I can get outside.
I hail from southern Colorado where the mighty Rio Grande, Wolf Creek Ski Area, and numerous 14ers make up my backyard playground. My husband and I have raised our two kids outdoors and believe nature can be the best teacher and healer. In addition to all our outdoor adventuring, I have spent a lot of time traveling with a couple stints living abroad. I believe connecting to other humans through nature and across cultures is paramount, and I strive through everything I'm involved with to embrace and exemplify that philosophy.
I am a New England who was destined to be a mountain woman. Two years ago, I packed up everything I could in my Jeep and drove to the Great Wild West of Colorado. I have been actively hiking for five years and recently started to ski and mountain bike! My journey began back in 2012 when I was spending some time hiking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Hiking was, and still is, a means of therapy for me. My family and I had been going through some challenging situations and I felt like my life was spinning out of control. There, on the dirt paths I continued to wander, I discovered a a fire within me that I did not realize was there. After I finished getting my Bachelor's in Cultural and Historical Preservation, I set out to find the mountains that I so longed for. Moving to Colorado to pursue my dreams of climbing mountains was the best decision I had made for myself in a long time. I cannot wait to see what the rest of this amazing life has in store!
