Meet the Ambassadors
Maia Blomberg - British Columbia
Hi! My name is Maia and I was born and raised in British Columbia, Canada. My first experience on a mountain was before the age of one, when my dad was kicked off a ski resort for trying to load the lift with me in a baby carrier. I inherited his passion for skiing, and grew up exploring the beautiful southern B.C. coast. I am currently studying Integrated Science in Neuroscience and Immunology at the University of British Columbia. My studies make up a large majority of my time, but I earn the title of ‘weekend warrior’ by getting out onto the slopes at the end of the week. I am excited to become a Mountain Chicks ambassador, and I can’t wait to adventure with some rad women (and men)!
Steph Wood - British Columbia
My name is Steph Wood, and I am a 23 year old part-time adult, full time nature enthusiast from Vancouver, British Columbia. I grew up hiking and skiing the mountains of the North Shore and Howe Sound, mountains that will always hold a special place in my heart. There's no better way to refresh than a weekend in the great outdoors, and I'm looking forward to sharing this with the Mountain Chicks community!
Desiree Penner - Manitoba
Hello! My name is Desiree Penner, a Manitoban who is currently finishing-up a degree in Social Work at the University of Manitoba. My mother is a all-star hiker who led me down dozens of trails, ever since a small child. Throughout my studies, I've learned the importance of wilderness, as it provides a irreplaceable space for humanity to find connectedness. I worked as an interpreter for Manitoba Provincial Parks - I'm so excited to once again organize time in our great outdoors! (PS: When asked to send in my top-rated adventure photograph, I pulled a capture from my solo 15,000 km road trip around West Coast USA).
Leslie Honish - Alberta
As an Alberta Native, Adventure is always on my mind. In January 2017, I began to find parts of myself through hiking and just never looked back. The higher the peak, the bigger the challenge! I love hiking, camping, road tripping and anything else wandering related. I'm so excited to be part of the Mountain Chicks family and look forward to seeing you on the trails.
Victoria Odell - Alberta
Originally from Ontario, I had never experienced the mountains until a few years ago. I moved to Alberta for work and took a weekend trip to the Rockies where I fell in love. Only a year later did I decide I had to live there and I moved just outside of Jasper National Park with my partner and dog. In the summer I spend most of my time working on my rock climbing, and in the winter I am hunting for powder lines to snurf down. I love all possible mountain activities and can't wait for all the new experiences with other MtnChicks!
Sallyanne Munro - Alberta
I am from Scotland and spent ten years living in Dubai where I spent my free time enjoying a beach life style scuba diving and surfing everyday. Six years ago I moved to Calgary and began to explore our back yard in Alberta and spend most weekends in the mountains hiking, scrambling and snowboarding. I even found somewhere to surf in the Kananaskis river! I love spending my time outdoors and sharing these experiences with other adventurous women.
Katy Mackenzie - British Columbia
Nothing feels better than getting out in nature or reaching the summit of a good hike. Except sharing it with others. Those who invite you, show you the ropes (or should I say trail), and encourage you when you don’t think you can go further. I’m proud to share my hometown of Vancouver British Columbia with you as a Mountain Chick Ambassador. I was born & raised in Vancouver but have many peaks I’ve not summited & would love you to join me. When I’m not in the mountains you’ll find me working as a Mortgage Broker or behind the lens of my camera Henry in my growing photography business. You’ve got one life, make it count. Join us!
