Meet the Ambassadors
In 2011, I moved to Utah from the Midwest and instantly fell in love with the great outdoors. Every weekend you can find me hiking, backpacking, canyoneering, or rock climbing. I spent three summers working at a high adventure camp in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and am currently a canyoneering guide at a resort near Zion National Park. Spending time in nature has increased my self confidence and sense of purpose, both of which I want to help other women experience for themselves.
I’m am everyday chick who can’t keep my head out of the clouds or feet out of hiking boots. I’ve always enjoyed the outdoors but it seems my hobby turned to insatiable passion when I moved to Utah. Growing up in Oregon I knew the splendors of a rugged coastline and was familiar with dense greenery that deafens the air around you. In my first month in Utah I experienced the unrelenting heat of the high desert and my shins seemed to be a favorite target for the aggressive plants that reside here. I loved every sweaty, prickly moment of it. I found myself wondering what other terrains am I missing, what else is out there to explore? I intend on spending every day possible finding out.
Hi my name is Sara Owen and I am thrilled to be a Mountain Chick Ambassador. I am a social worker, wife and mother by day and explorer/photographer by all the other spare time I have. Connecting with nature has been the greatest blessing in my life. I love the many ways you can explore Utah, by it's many mountain trails, water activities, snow adventures and iconic scenery. The outdoors have been my passion since i was a little girl growing up in Utah and I can't wait to share that passion with so many others.
